Artist's Statement: Eight months ago, my husband Tony and I set up 'JointWorks Studio' in Tasman Village. This exhibition is a summary of my last eight months' worth of weaving. Having gone from being a part-time to a full-time weaver, this work reflects some of the developments I have made - an 'expansion' of my skills and ideas. I have been experimenting with different colours, yarns, and techniques. These include collapse weave technique, network drafting and using 1/3 and 3/1 twill to develop a pattern. Expanding my skills, using different yarns and techniques has been, and will continue to be, a very satisfying and challenging process. Tony has also gone through this 'expansion' process. I imagine that for both of us it will never stop.
Tony works
with wood, creating fine furniture. This exhibition displays some
examples of his work. The pieces were specifically made to stay in
keeping with the fibre concept. |
