I have been a maker of felt for over 10 years, and since a child I’ve always enjoyed making things. My Mother inspired me with her creative pursuits, sewing our clothes, taking me to Art Galleries and Craft Fairs.

Felting provides many creative possibilities, and making practical wearable pieces is a favourite of mine. I love colour, designing, and then the tactile process of turning the fibres into condensed felt material. Learning new techniques to make lighter felt, with silk fibres has been exciting over the past few years.

Entering into "World of Wearable Art" and being accepted into the past 2 seasons was a huge and rewarding experience, and given me a chance to push my creative thinking and technical skills.

I have facilitated Felt workshops for children and adults, a great way to share ideas, and assist people to get in touch with their own creativity.

After moving to Golden Bay and leaving behind a very busy life, I decided to take some time to rediscover my passion. Learning the art of feltmaking through a course offered in Takaka had me instantly fall in love with the medium and the unlimited creativity it gave me.

As a child I was always knitting, crocheting and sewing and had left these crafts behind when I got very busy juggling a family and working in the corporate world.

Working with my hands and making one of a kind felted items has reignited my love of hand crafts and creating art. I chose the label fairy godmother to reflect the love and magic I feel when I create each piece.
