CONSPICUOUSLY COLOURFUL

Marion Whyte presents a selection of fabric art and quilts,
large and small, which are striking in variety and interest.

The theme which carries through this collection is the use of
bold and arresting colours and fabrics.

The quest to find perfect colours and colour combinations is
a common thread that runs from master painters through to
interior designers and landscape artists.

As French impressionist Claude Monet said:
“Colour is my day-long obsession, joy and torment.”

As colour is a sense that affects our mood, our eyes and our
minds, this selection will surely give pleasure, brighten your
day or in some way inspire you in your own creativity.

"Colour is all.
When colour is right, form is right.
Colour is everything.
Colour is vibration - like music;
Everything is vibration". (Marc Chagall)

Marion's comments are shown against each creation.

"Flowers & Frolics". My version of a design by Australian quilters Sarah Fielke and Kathy Doughty. The big flowers provide a showcase for the bold presentations of Kaffe Fassett's fabrics.   A passion for lime green ties it all together.
H206 x W162cm    $1990

"Working it Out". As Mark Twain said - "You cannot depend on your eyes when your imagination is out of focus".
For me, it's all about colour and the creation of images.
H100 x W85cm   $420
A selection of "Quiltlets" - Pop in a frame...
Scatter on your furniture...
Hang on the wall - singly or in groups... (Cat is inset)
13.5cm square   $14.90 each

Above: "The Early Bird" - A workshop with Rhoda Cohen made me use more greyed tones, which, to my surprise, I enjoyed!  H49 x W60cm   $180

Left: "Fields of Gold" - creating virtual landscapes allows your imagination to run riot.   H64 x W54cm   $390

"Welkom" - a combination of two favourites:
African fabrics & houses.
The back of 'Welkom' is equally striking.
H108 x W72cm   $445
"A Walk in the Park" - another inspiration from Kaffe Fassett. Playful striped stems and Bev Dyke's quilting made this a 'walk in the park'.   H117 x W98cm   $990

"Tequila Sunset" - A Tequila - A Sunset - A Tango
97cm square   $480
"Can You Hear the Cicadas?" Traditional English paper-pieced meet Hunderwasser's philosophy of no straight lines.
H67 x W47cm   $490
